Archadeck of Chicagoland Deck Builder

Building decks in Chicagoland for over 10 years!

Gurnee IL deck builder

Above you'll see a beautiful combination outdoor living space in Gurnee, IL. The large elevated deck is made of pressure-treated pine and stained to perfection. You'll notice the slender profile of the black Deckorator pickets which are very popular. Both the slender profile and the dark color draw your eye out to the area beyond the deck.

The deck descends to grade with a matching pine staircase. The lower level includes a curved patio which includes a seating section and another section of this generously sized hardscape is flanked by the Pisa II seating wall. A retaining wall is a great way to add extra seating to your patio.

The patio pavers are in Unilock Olde Greenwich Cobble in Nevada Color. These subtle earth-toned pavers make the patio a compliment to the deck, the home, and blend the space seamlessly with the beautifully landscaped lawn.

Winnetka IL wood deck and pergola

The beautiful pressure-treated pool deck and pergola combination above are in Winnetka IL. Cedar rails follow this uniquely shaped deck's border. The slender 2x2 pickets ensure those on the deck have a great view of the pool.

Over to the right side, you'll see a bump out area of the deck. At Archadeck of Chicagoland, we take into account how you want to use your deck, porch, patio or outdoor living space. We wanted to make sure this family's table and chairs fit comfortably with enough walking distance around the eating space.

On the opposite side of the deck, you'll see another bump out area holding the grill. This ensures that the grill has a proper place on the deck while not obstructing the foot path of people walking out to the pool area.

A large pergola covers nearly the entire deck area. The pergola not only offers aesthetic appeal but also a degree of sun protection for this Winnetka home. The large cedar posts give a the pergola a stately appearance from the pool. The pergola has lathing across the top creating an additional measure of sun protection while still allowing the owners to enjoy natural sun while on their new deck.

Last but not least, you'll notice the diamond lattice skirting giving this deck the finished look from end to end and top to bottom. The diamond lattice was also used for the small privacy wall on the far end.

Bolingbrook IL deck with outdoor fireplace

The Bolingbrook IL composite deck above utilizes TimberTech Evolutions composite decking in brick color. The rich red-toned deck color compliments the outdoor fireplace nicely. The black TimberTech Evolutions railing compliments both features.

You'll find that slender profile dark colored rails are very popular. Both the darker color and the slender profile tend to draw the eye through the pickets making it easier to see and enjoy the rest of the yard and other areas on the property.

The outdoor fireplace in the far corner compliments the size and scale of the porch. If you've decided to add an outdoor fireplace to your new deck, porch or patio; ask your Chicago deck designer to provide options on size, shape and materials. That's the real value in working with a custom builder who designs to your tastes and to fit your needs.

Atop the deck is a vinyl pergola which is another great low maintenance selection on this deck, fireplace and pergola combination. With the composite decking, the Deckorator pickets and the vinyl pergola, the owners will not need to paint, stain, or do any annual maintenance to this great Bolingbrook outdoor living space.

TimberTech deck builder Chicagoland

This stunning TimberTech deck project in Bolingbrook, IL offers multiple opportunities for these homeowners to really live outside. The large deck is partially covered by a pergola to offer flexibility for direct sunlight as well as a deck area with some sun protection.

When you first look at this deck and pergola combination, the majestic steps jump out at you. It's not only the size of the stair set that jumps out at you. The decking in TimberTech Evolutions brick color is a stunning contrast with the railing that's also in TimberTech Evolutions in black.

The beautiful stair set also features Deckorator pickets with baskets. Look closely for the beautiful detail in the pickets. In addition, low voltage riser lights are built in to ensure safety when these homeowners enjoy their deck and yard at night.

One thing you may not notice are the posts for both the deck and the pergola and that is by design. With a warm colored deck and bold black railings, having subtly colored posts is important. Another thing you won't notice about the posts is that they are covered in AZEK PVC sleeves. This not only translates to no painting or staining but also to easy clean up. Deck posts easily get splashed with nearby dirt when there's some rain. Simply turn your garden hose to your deck posts when watering your garden to give them a quick clean up. The subtle color of the vinyl pergola is a perfect match.

Low to grade deck Schaumburg IL

The yard pictured above is very flat creating the perfect space for a low-to-grade deck. If your yard is relatively flat, you may have the choice of either a patio hardscape or a deck. These Schaumburg IL homeowners selected a nicely sized pressure-treated wood deck with black Deckorator pickets. Notice the angled edges for the deck adding visual appeal and adding to the deck's custom look. With the quick addition of a table umbrella, this sunny spot gets some shade cover to enjoy a nice meal outside. The space is also large enough to accommodate seating as you'll note with the bench to one end.

Mundelein IL deck and screened porch

At the home above in Mundelein IL, we built a combination project with both a deck and a screened porch. You'll notice that designing the project to work with the back of the home was more challenging as the facade has multiple architectural reliefs. Often times, clients will tell us that other builders said they could not connect a particular space to their home due to the configuration. You'll notice we were able to integrate the nicely sized porch and expansive deck making the spaces work together and work in harmony with the home.

Often there are multiple challenges designing roof structures to work with an existing home. For example, we don't want the porch roof to infringe upon the upstairs windows. This constraint may dictate the options for the roof shape. This roof type does not block or muddy the view from the upstairs windows.

The large deck extends across 2 doors to the house making the deck accessible from different rooms. Often it's nice when the deck is accessible from the kitchen to take morning coffee outside or to move another meal outside. It's also nice to have the deck accessible from a living area room to extend that activity outside and even to open up the doors to the fresh air.

The deck is made of pressure-treated pine and is flanked by low maintenance Trex railing with Deckorator pickets. The porch utilizes Screen EZE screening.

multi level wood deck with stair lighting

The multi-level deck above was built in Rosemont IL and has several great features. Likely the first thing you notice is the wide set of stairs spanning the two levels of this pressure-treated pine deck. A wide stair set often accomplishes a couple objectives. First, multiple people can move from one level to the other at the same time. This stair configuration also invites seating and does a great job of creating additional seating on the deck.

The icing on the cake with these stairs is the stair lighting with riser lights. As your outdoor events linger long into the evening, you want to make sure everyone can use your deck space safely while traversing the upper and lower deck area.

The next thing you may notice is the grill surround. Most of us want to use our deck for grilling. One challenge is that a grill takes up quite a bit of space. Not only is space required for the grill itself, but the grill chef doesn't want to be crowded into a small space. There are a couple nice options to accommodate a grill. Often times homeowners choose a bump out area on their deck to hold the grill. In this case, we used the grill surround to tuck the grill into a strategic place on the deck.
