Your Chicago Area Porch Builder - Archadeck of Chicagoland
Take a look at the screened porch above in the south suburbs. This Mokena IL screened porch has it all. The nicely sized wide porch windows are 4-track vinyl windows. This allows the homeowners to enjoy opening their windows up to 75% by easily sliding the clear vinyl windows on their tracks. The windows are not only wide for maximum visibility and light but they are also tall - one of the benefits of choosing a custom screened porch for your Chicago area home.
The roof line of the porch is a shed roof style with an open end. Again, maximum thought was given to providing a bright and airy space. The shed style roof matches the shed roof style on the home itself allowing the porch to look like it was original to the home.
Over to the right side of the picture slightly out of view is a custom patio and fire pit. The fire pit is gas and includes fire glass for maximum aesthetics and a zen quality throughout the entire outdoor living space.
Take a look at this Aurora IL open porch in the photo above. One of the first things you may notice is the attractive high gable of the porch roof. At Archadeck of Chicagoland, it's important that your new project fits with your existing home. Our goal is to make your new porch look original to your home. You'll notice the similar gable as the roofline to the left. You will also notice that the roof shingles look identical to the ones used on the home. Even the gutter treatment matches.
The porch is elevated to provide access from exactly where the family wants. This second-story porch provides access to the main living level of this lovely home. The open porch rests upon a new pressure-treated wood porch. Elegant slender white spindles are used throughout the deck, porch and stair railing. These make a nice tie in to the home's white trim. Their slender profile ensures significant visibility from the deck/porch area.
There are lots of details to appreciate in the featured porch above. This St. Charles west suburb home has a very unique architecture which could present a challenge in designing the perfect porch to fit with this beautiful home.
As seen in the featured porch atop this page, this porch includes clear vinyl 4-track windows. Likely you would never have noticed because these innovative windows look like they're permanently closed. The multiple tracks on the windows allows the homeowners to open the windows from either the top or bottom. They can open the tracks from 25% up to 75% depending on the temperature, how much air they want in the room at that time, and depending on rain and moisture at the time.
The porch is made of cedar with pressure-treated wood flooring. The porch is elevated allowing access to the main living area of the home. The cathedral ceiling includes Velux skylights to allow even more sun into the space. The open rafter ceiling design gives a rustic look to this beautiful space.
Allowing your eye to move over the spectacular Palatine IL open porch and patio above, what catches your eye first? Perhaps it's the custom stone fire pit. Perhaps it's the round custom shape of the Belgard paver patio. Belgard Mega Arbel pavers in Ashbury Haze have a beautiful flagstone effect.
The cedar open porch has bold cedar-wrapped columns. The open gable roof allows sunlight into the space and creates a beautiful rustic open rafter cathedral ceiling from within the porch. The porch area is generously sized allowing room for both an eating and a seating area.
The porch sits atop pressure-treated wood decking run on a diagonal for visual appeal. Although you can't see it from afar, the space is wired for everything from a cable hookup for the outdoor television, a ceiling fan and outdoor lighting.
Take a look at this spectacular screened porch and wrap around composite deck in our Northwest Suburbs of Kildeer IL. This project also includes a paver patio and fire pit.
The screened porch has an open shed roof. The shed roof slopes downward from the house side. You will note from looking at the picture above that this roof style is best so as to not block the second story windows. The porch and deck are elevated to provide access to and from the house at the primary living level.
The wrap-around deck is finished with TimberTech composite decking from their Earthwood Evolutions line in the Tropical Walnut color. The railings are also made of composite TimberTech in the color white sand.
The porch exits down a set of stairs to a Unilock paver patio complete with a custom fire pit. The patio pavers are from the Brussels Block collection in the color Sierra.
One thing you'll notice when taking a look through these pictures is that we often build combination projects. A porch may be in combination with a deck or a deck may be in combination with a patio. At the time you are adding an outdoor living space to your home, it's important to build the space to fit how you want to live outdoors. Do you want to eat outdoors? Do you want to grill on a custom firepit? Do you want a space where you and several couples on the block can linger for hours on weekend evenings? All of this is important to share with your contractor so they can help build the right space for you.
In the Chicago Northwest Suburb of Barrington, you'll find one of our favorite projects. This outdoor space accommodates so many different outdoor living activities. Enjoy dinner outside followed by a soak in the hot tub. Enjoy cocktails on the screened porch and then move outside to roast marshmallows in the custom fire pit. Enjoy appetizers in the beautiful Adirondack chairs and then move to the screened porch when the bugs come out in the evening. This combination space in Barrington allows for many different types of outdoor living.
The open gable roof creates a tall cathedral ceiling inside the cedar screened porch. Exposed rafters create just the right amount of rustic appeal. The paver patio is custom designed to complete the area with a foundation for the hot tub along with 2 additional living areas.
Do you have a large patio that you'd like to get more use out of? One request we receive is about whether we can build a screened porch or other structure above an existing patio. That's exactly what we did at this Mundelein I home in the North Suburbs.
There are a couple features to notice about this project. First, note the roof on the porch. There are several considerations used when determining the best roof style for your new screened porch. Those considerations start with your preferences and goals for the space. Next, we take into account any obstructions on the second story of the home. You can see the multiple second story windows which limited the pitch of this gable roof porch but we were still able to use this very popular roof style.
If you look at the entire home, you will notice the other extended room on the home which also has a gable roof. Utilizing this roof style allowed us to tie into and compliment the existing style.
This cedar screened porch has a low 24" kneewall. Local building codes will often determine the required height of the kneewall. The family now has the ultimate in outdoor living with some great patio space for lots of direct sun time outdoors. They can also step inside the screened area for protection from elements or as the sun goes down.
